2019 Texas November Election: Amendments and Local Issues/Offices

Judge Hewlett will review all 10 Constitutional Amendments on the ballot. Plus, we'll review local ballot issues and candidates.

Sydney Hewlett was appointed District Judge of the 18th District Court of Johnson and Somervell Counties in March, by Governor Abbott.  She took the oath of office in May, becoming the first female judge of a Court of record in Johnson and Somervell Counties.

Sydney graduated with honors from UTA, and earned her law degree from Baylor University.

​

Sydney was elected as a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation in 2016, in recognition of outstanding professional service and notable contributions to the system of justice and the people of Texas.

​

Sydney is active in the Republican Party.  She served as the Caucus Chairman for Senate District 22 (our Senate District) at both the 2016 and 2018 Republican State Convention. 

​

Sydney also served as Vice President in charge in programs for the Johnson County Republican Women in 2015 and as President from 2016-2017.
